Rio[ENGLISH] Terry Maltos says: 1962-2012 Álvaro Araújo Lourenço do Rio was professionally known as « Al Rio. » This is Volume One of an exciting new Art Book series! This is Terry Maltos. I was Al Rio’s business partner and friend for almost 10 years. He died unexpectedly in 2012. This Kickstarter campaign is to raise money to publish Volume One in a series of books I’m producing to showcase his incredible artwork.

Al Rio was a very prolific artist! Over the years we shared dozens of projects and I have hundreds of scans of his work to share. This is Volume 1 of what could be a 3 or 4 volume series in which I’ve chosen some of the best and most representative images of his work.

His childhood was influenced by Hanna-Barbera animation, comic characters like Iron Man, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and X-Men, and artists like John Romita, Gil Kane, José Luis García-López and Stan Drake… (read more in the book!)
