[ENGLISH] Dynamite tells us: The future is looking better and brighter every day thanks to Dynamite Entertainment and Eisner Award winner, Matt Wagner! In addition to the Buck Rogers 50/50 covers to issue #1 by Alex Ross and series cover artist John Cassaday – Dynamite has just announced a surprise 1-in-5 Matt Wagner cover for Buck Rogers #1, due out in June!
Wagner’s Eisner Award winning approach joins two other Eisner Award winning artists (John Cassaday and Alex Ross) for covers on Buck Rogers #1, with writer Scott Beatty and artist Carlos Rafael for the beginning of one of the most anticipated new series of 2009 (and beyond)! Matt’s powerful rendition of the iconic hero is fully colored and, as a bonus for fans and retailers, « seeded » in to the series at 1:5 ratio.
The futuristic adventures of Buck Rogers from Dynamite Entertainment has launched in time for for Free Comic Book Day (May 2nd), with the all-original #0 issue, « The Death of Buck Rogers », available to fans for just .25 cents! But the journey doesn’t stop there… Buck Rogers #1 is set for release in June with 50/50 cover artists Alex Ross and John Cassaday… and now a surprise 1-in-5 Matt Wagner cover!
« Matt’s dedication to every project he works on made his desire to draw a Buck Rogers cover that much more gratifying to us. We had to get his cover on issue #1, and felt it would be a great surprise for retailers and fans, and also to show our support by announcing it closer to the orders being submitted to Diamond. We’re honored that Matt would join us on this historic launch! »
Demand is high for Dynamite’s Buck Rogers, with initial sales of the #0 issue clocking in at close to 75,000 copies for the Direct Market, and Dynamite planning an aggressive 20% overprint to meet retailer demand for re-orders.
Issue #0 will ship from Dynamite to be in stores by April 22nd, and retailers can decide to sell the books right away (give away the books right away for those that choose to), or save them for Free Comic Book Day.
