Cette s\u00e9rie \u00e0 la vie tr\u00e8s br\u00e8ve n&rsquo;a pas convaincu ses diffuseurs yankees de commander une seconde saison, mais elle poss\u00e8de d&rsquo;ind\u00e9niables atouts. Et il serait b\u00eate de la laisser sombrer dans l&rsquo;oubli cathodique\u2026<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>[ENGLISH] While French viewers just discovered Blade the Series on cable TV, a DVD of the uncensored pilot, has just been released in most english-speaking countries. A good way of taking another look at a series which deserves more than being forgotten\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"1140\" height=\"642\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wjgHNDO3kLY?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=fr-FR&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[French]\nC&rsquo;est l&rsquo;histoire d&rsquo;un rattrapage. David S.Goyer, l&rsquo;homme qui a litt\u00e9ralement r\u00e9-invent\u00e9 Blade pour le cin\u00e9ma (et la posterit\u00e9) a \u00e9galement bien failli le renvoyer <em>ad patres <\/em>avec <strong>Blade Trinity<\/strong>, le troisi\u00e8me film de la saga, qu&rsquo;il a non seulement \u00e9crit, mais aussi r\u00e9alis\u00e9 : un nanar comme on en fait plus dans cette gamme de prix (environ 30 millions de biftons yankees). Mais David Goyer n&rsquo;en avait manifestement pas fini avec le &lsquo;daywalker&rsquo;. Avec le soutien de Marvel, il pitche, fin 2005, une s\u00e9rie TV \u00e0 la jeune cha\u00eene Spike. On craint le pire. Erreur. Goyer revient \u00e0 la base du concept et fait appel \u00e0 son ami sc\u00e9nariste de comics Geoff Johns (Green Lantern, Infinite Crisis, JSA) afin de veiller \u00e0 la bonne tenue de l&rsquo;histoire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sans \u00eatre brillant, le r\u00e9sultat est d&rsquo;excellente facture malgr\u00e9 des moyens visiblement limit\u00e9s. Si Kirk \u00ab\u00a0Stickyfingaz\u00a0\u00bb Jones, (ex-rappeur, leader du groupe Onyx) ne parvient pas \u00e0 faire oublier Wesley Snipes, il livre une prestation fort honorable. Mieux qu&rsquo;adapt\u00e9e, la mythologie Blade est \u00e9tendue. Les vampires, apprend-t-on, sont divis\u00e9s en 12 maisons (12 tribus ?). L&rsquo;une d&rsquo;elles, la Maison de Chton (prononcez \u00ab\u00a0Ka-ton\u00a0\u00bb), veut affirmer sa supr\u00e9matie sur les autres, sous l&rsquo;impulsion d&rsquo;un de ses charismatiques leaders : Marcus Van Sciver. La belle Krista Starr (Jill Wagner), ex-marine rapatri\u00e9e d&rsquo;Irak (oui, on y croit\u2026), plonge dans les griffes de Van Sciver qu&rsquo;elle soup\u00e7one d&rsquo;avoir fait assassiner son fr\u00e8re jumeau. Blade la cueille a temps et l&rsquo;infiltre chez Van Sciver. S&rsquo;installe un petit jeu de chat et souris \u00e0 trois, chacun devenant \u00e0 tour de r\u00f4le la proie ou l&rsquo;appat. Un \u00ab\u00a0trick\u00a0\u00bb sc\u00e9naristique qui tiendra le public en haleine toute la saison.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Faut-il donc investir ses mardis soirs sur Blade ? Sans h\u00e9siter. C&rsquo;est toujours mieux que l&rsquo;Hopital sur TF1 ! Encore faut-il avoir acc\u00e8s \u00e0 SciFi Channel\u2026 Et pour les press\u00e9s, le pilote en version int\u00e9grale non censur\u00e9e(avec sang, violence et nudit\u00e9 abondantes) sort ces jours-ci en Zone 1. Le verrons-nous en Zone 2 ? Myst\u00e8re\u2026<\/p>\n[Izod]\n<p><em>La diffusion fran\u00e7aise a d\u00e9but\u00e9 d\u00e9but septembre sur Sci-Fi Channel (cable et Canalsat). Chaque mardi \u00e0 20h45 \u00e0 raison de 2 \u00e9pisodes par semaine.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a title=\"51qqymxuqul_ss500_.jpg\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.comicbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/51qqymxuqul_ss500_.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"51qqymxuqul_ss500_.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.comicbox.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/51qqymxuqul_ss500_.jpg?w=1140\" alt=\"51qqymxuqul_ss500_.jpg\" align=\"absMiddle\" border=\"0\"><\/a>[ENGLISH] It&rsquo;s a redemption story. Not in the classical sense, of course. I&rsquo;m talking about David S.Goyer. The multi-talented screenwriter that re-created Blade for the screen, was also the one who nearly destroyed it. After two smash movies by Steven Norrington and Guillermo Del Toro, Goyer handled Blade III, AKA Blade Trinity all by himself. And he moved the franchise from pure-adrenaline to comedy. A bold move that left most of the audience with this acronym on their mind : \u00ab\u00a0W.T.F.?\u00a0\u00bb. Blade Trinity was doomed from the beginning as many reported disagreements between the director and the main star, Wesley Snipes, over the tone and script. After that, it seemed we wouldn&rsquo;t see Blade on screen again. Wrong. Late 2005, David Goyer pitched a TV series to the then rising Spike TV network. Spike, a young and ambitious cable channel targeting a male audience saw an opportunity to draw attention despite real risks budgetwise. However, a 13 episodes first season is ordered and the series debuts on June 13th, 2006 on Spike TV America. Ratings are solid for the pilot and will stay at a very satisfying level. Apparently not enough for the network who expected more. The series is canceled on the eve of its final and 13th episode broadcast.<br \/>\nOn september 18th, New Line releases the pilot of the series (consisting in episodes #1-2) in an uncensored version. In short : with more blood, violence and partial nudity. While watching the series, everybody could suppose that an uncensored version had been shot. Blade : the Series went even in territories where the movies didn&rsquo;t go to the satisfaction of many fans. Yet, one can wonder why releasing only these two episodes and not the complete season. Guess nobody trusts Blade anymore at the studio and a success from this DVD is the only way to getting the entire series on shelves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Blade : the House of Chton (pronounce \u00ab\u00a0ka-thon\u00a0\u00bb) DVD gives a good glimpse of the series. The pilot introduces the main characters, Blade (Kirk Jones) and his sideckick, Shen, as well as lead female character Krista Starr (Jill Wagner) and a cast of villains led by Marcus Van Sciver (Neil Johnson) and the deadly Chase (Jessica Gower).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apart from the pilot, Blade : the House of Chton includes bonuses such as a commentary from David Goyer and Geoff Johns, a 7-part making of and a bunch of trailers and TV ads. The making of is by far the most interesting. The commentary includes a lot of information about the series and its demise, but the creators spend too much time congratulating themselves about how they&rsquo;re pround of the series. Still, with a very sharp and bright image (close to perfect on a plasma TV, despite un number of dark scenes), a nice Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, this DVD convinced us.
