To coincide with the release of the third album of the serie Wormwood (ED. Delcourt), the gallery Daniel Maghen is pleased to welcome Ben Templesmith.<\/p>\n

Passionate about the Fantastic and strange, Ben Templesmith is now an established author in the American comics scene. After a stint on Hellspawn brought his work to our attention, he went on to hone his distinctive and original graphic style on headline series such as 30 days of night (Neils scenario), Fell (Ellis scenario),\u2026 Nominated four times for the prestigious Eisner Award, in 2008 he was awarded a prize from the International Horror Guild for his Wormwood series.
\nThis exhibition will present a good quantity of Templesmith’s illustrations including covers and pages – in black & white and color impressions – from his series published in France and the USA. Expect the unexpected from this original artist able to combine the horrific and the humourous and do try and meet Ben Templesmith in person, an experience in its self!<\/p>\n

Please note, that this exhibition marks the opening of the gallery to the authors of American comics. Bio et Biblio de Ben Templesmith<\/h3>\n

\"\"Ben Templesmith est n\u00e9 en 1978 \u00e0 Perth (Australie). Dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 en Design Graphique option Illustration, il a travaill\u00e9 aussi bien pour le cin\u00e9ma, les magazines, que pour les compagnies de jeux, mais le plus souvent pour l\u2019industrie angloam\u00e9ricaine de la bande dessin\u00e9e. Il r\u00e9alise ses premiers comics en 2002.<\/p>\n

Il travaille notamment sur Hellspawn avec Todd McFarlane. 30 jours de nuit , sa premi\u00e8re cr\u00e9ation publi\u00e9e, a d\u2019embl\u00e9e connu un tr\u00e8s grand succ\u00e8s. Le premier volume de la s\u00e9rie a \u00e9t\u00e9 adapt\u00e9 au cin\u00e9ma par David Slade en 2007 (film sorti en France en 2008). Templesmith a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9 4 fois de suite aux Eisner Awards pour l\u2019ensemble de son travail entre 2005 et 2008. En 2008 qu\u2019il a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 publier Wormwood, comic pour lequel il a obtenu une r\u00e9compense de l\u2019International Horror Guild. Il travaille actuellement sur une s\u00e9rie intitul\u00e9e Choker.<\/p>\n

Eric Canete<\/h3>\n

\"\"Eric Canete est un artiste autodidacte, la meilleure \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9cole\u00a0\u00bb pour lui fut au contact d’autres professionnels. Certains de ses projets pass\u00e9s dans le milieu de l’animation sont Aeon Flux, Men In Black, Dark Fury, The Batman, Justice League Unlimited, Ben10 et pour la bande dessin\u00e9e : 2.0 Cybernary, Iron Man : Enter The Mandarin, Comic Book Tattoo, The End League.<\/p>\n

Actuellement, il travaille sur une s\u00e9rie qui fait fureur aux USA en reprennant le personnage de Luke Cage. Cet auteur est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme un nouveau talent \u00e0 suivre dans l’industrie du comics am\u00e9ricain.<\/p>\n

Olivier Coipel<\/h3>\n

\"\"Olivier Coipel est le \u00ab\u00a0frenchy\u00a0\u00bb pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 des amateurs de comics am\u00e9ricains. Consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme LE nouveau g\u00e9nie du Comics, il est devenu un dessinateur incontournable et tr\u00e8s recherch\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce aux succ\u00e8s plan\u00e9taires de ses s\u00e9ries House of M, Siege, Thor, …<\/p>\n

Nous sommes tr\u00e8s honor\u00e9s d’ouvrir notre d\u00e9partement comics am\u00e9ricains avec un tel auteur qui allie \u00e0 lui tout seul gentillessse et talent.<\/p>\n

Terry Dodson<\/h3>\n

\"\"Cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1963 par Stan Lee et Jack Kirby, la s\u00e9rie X-Men est une v\u00e9ritable institution dans l’univers Marvel.<\/p>\n

Terry Dodson a su apporter sa patte et son style graphique, rond et bien en forme, notament lorsqu’il dessine les personnages mutants f\u00e9minins.<\/p>\n

Duncan Fegredo<\/h3>\n

\"\"Duncan Fegredo reprend avec brio la s\u00e9rie mythique de Mignola : Hellboy.\u00a0 Un style graphique plus nerveux qui ravie les amoureux de cette cr\u00e9ature venu d’une autre dimension.<\/p>\n

Duncan Fegredo n’a pas \u00e0 palir car il reprend brillament le style de son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur en y ajoutant sa propre \u00e9nergie.<\/p>\n

Andrew Pepoy<\/h3>\n

\"\"Le sc\u00e9nariste Bill Willingham a r\u00e9ussi un coup de maitre en cr\u00e9ant l’histoires des \u00ab\u00a0Fables\u00a0\u00bb, personnages fantastiques des contes de f\u00e9es vivant dans une autre dimension.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s le succ\u00e8s de la s\u00e9rie \u00ab\u00a0m\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb Fables, il d\u00e9veloppe cette univers d\u00e9cal\u00e9 et hilarant \u00e0 travers le personnage de Jack (et le haricot magique), playboy \u00e9m\u00e9rite toujours fourr\u00e9 dans les bons coups. Andrew Pepoy se voit alors port\u00e9 d’une mission sacr\u00e9e : donner vie \u00e0 ce personnage sous sa plume au style rond et sympathique.<\/p>\n

Eric Powell<\/h3>\n

\"\"Artiste complet, Eric Powell a su cr\u00e9er un univers atypique avec des personnages rudes et un style graphique sans concession \u00e0 la limite parfois du cartoon.<\/p>\n

The Goon s’impose comme une des s\u00e9ries les plus originales venues d’outre-Atlantique ces derni\u00e8re ann\u00e9es, quelque part entre l’univers sombre d’Hellboy et celui horrifiquement d\u00e9cal\u00e9 de la famille Adams.<\/p>\n

Greg Tocchini<\/h3>\n

\"\"V\u00e9ritable ovni dans le panel de proposition des Comics, la s\u00e9rie The last days of american crime respecte tous les codes du polar noir et plonge le lecteur dans une Am\u00e9rique au bord du gouffre. S\u2019appuyant sur les poncifs du genre, le sc\u00e9nariste Rick Remender \u00e9vite cependant le pi\u00e8ge des st\u00e9r\u00e9otypes et livre des truands hauts en couleurs qui ont tous leurs secrets et des desseins pas forc\u00e9ment compatibles.<\/p>\n

Le trait du br\u00e9silien Greg Tocchini est fantastique, usant d’un trait \u00e0 l’aquarelle se mariant \u00e0 merveille avec les tons sombres et chauds.
