\"\"[ENGLISH] Legendary Comics say:<\/strong> Legendary Pictures \u2014 the production company responsible for, in association with Warner Bros., The Dark Knight, The Hangover and this Friday\u2019s Due Date \u2014 announced today that they\u2019re launching a graphic novel division, to be headed up by former DC Comics editor and Oni Press co-founder Bob Schreck.<\/p>\n

About a third of Legendary\u2019s output has been comic book adaptations (including 300, Watchmen and Superman Returns), so getting into the publishing division isn\u2019t an entirely surprising move \u2014 their first film was 2005\u2019s Batman Begins. The company\u2019s releases says they\u2019re looking at four to six graphic novels a year, published both digitally and in print and with the initial title out in the first half of 2011. No specific projects or creators were mentioned in the statement, though Schreck is quoted as saying the imprint has \u201ccollaborations lined up with world-class creators\u201d and Neil Gaiman, Max Brooks and Frank Miller are all quoted in the release.<\/p>\n

The move means Schreck leaving his current job as a senior editor at San Diego-based IDW, where he also wrote Jurassic Park: Redemption.<\/p>\n

Burbank, CA, November 3, 2010 \u2013 Legendary Pictures has appointed veteran comic book editor Bob Schreck to the role of Editor-in-Chief of the newly-formed Legendary Comics, it was announced by Thomas Tull, Legendary\u2019s Chairman and CEO. Schreck joins Legendary Comics from IDW Publishing, and his appointment marks the launch of the new division dedicated to publishing original graphic novels.<\/p>\n

Headed by Schreck, Legendary Comics plans to publish four to six graphic novels a year for both digital and traditional print distribution. The books will target Legendary\u2019s well-established and powerful fandom demographic. Schreck begins at Legendary Comics the first week of November, and plans to release the inaugural project within the first half of 2011. He will be working closely with Kathy Vrabeck, President of Legendary Digital, and they will, as warranted, look to bring the newly-created comic-based IP produced by the venture to other entertainment platforms such as film and television.<\/p>\n

Iconic comic creators Neil Gaiman, Max Brooks and Frank Miller are among those who are supportive of Legendary Comics.<\/p>\n

Frank Miller stated, \u201cBob Schreck is a joy to work with. He\u2019s tough but affable, mindful of the publisher\u2019s needs but a happy warrior on the side of the artist. We\u2019ve worked together to mutual satisfaction for years. Legendary has proven its \u2018fides all over the movie industry and I expect no less from its publishing arm. \u201cTo be attached to a creative engine of this magnitude is as thrilling as it is humbling,\u201d said Max Brooks.<\/p>\n

Schreck comes to Legendary from IDW Publishing where he most recently served as Senior Editor. Prior to IDW Schreck spent nearly a decade working for DC comics where he started in 1990 after founding the famed Oni Press.
